Father & Daughter come to the Rescue in Snow Chaos.

...Mr Matthews said: “From 11am onwards, the road was blocked so I thought I’d tow people.

“I thought if we can get the articulated lorry out then it will give people a clear run of the hill.

“I’m used to driving on the ice because I used to do a lot of rallying.

“When I got the articulated lorry up the hill there was a round of applause from people.”

The father-and-daughter-duo, from Higher Bockhampton, proved popular with motorists.

Sophie, 16, said: “My dad is a bit of a hero, it was good fun getting people out, I managed to get a few tips off people to go towards my Christmas present.”

After the pair had towed people up the hill, they managed to do another good deed and pick up some people who were walking to Puddletown Surgery.

Mr Matthews added: “I think those cars and the lorry would have been stuck there a lot longer if we weren’t there.

“It’s nice to do something to help people and I thought that seeing as I was able to do it, I’d help as many people as I could.

“I’m going to go home and warm up now and get a cup of coffee.”
